Community Hub Supervisor

Rate of pay - £11.50 per hour (Students’ Union Level 2 rate)

Hours of work – Normal expectation between 10 and 15 hours per week during term time.

Job Purpose:

The Cost of Living Crisis is impacting our student members in their daily lives and making the student experience difficult for those who are most affected. As a Students’ Union, we have created a ‘Cost of Living Manifesto’ which sets out the actions we want to take ourselves, and where we want to lobby for change in the University and local community. One of the goals on this manifesto is to create a Community Hub where students can swap or buy items they no longer need with students looking for these items, saving money, promoting sustainability and reducing waste. The Community Hub Supervisor role will ensure the hub is operating affectively day to day, under the guidance of the Community and Events Coordinator, and supervise others where necessary to run the hub.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for students using the hub to drop off or collect items
  • Organise items students are seeking to swap and collect, so that students using the hub can easily see what is available for collection
  • Supervise student staff/volunteers at the hub to maintain a well-organised and welcoming environment.
  • Be responsible for opening and closing the hub at the beginning and end of every shift.
